For work, but mainly for lack of good spirits, I spent some months without manufacturing and without using slingshots. This week I wanted to start picking up a bit on the subject and took a young fork from Bocote. With a hatchet and a machete, I removed the excess volume from the fork to carve a piece designed for the left hand. The gap posts are square and measure about 2.5 cm per side. Barely working on # 80 sandpaper. I'll go slowly to warm up my hand before grabbing a couple of huge pieces of Ziricote and Bocote that I've had in storage for almost a year.
I also want to finish a couple of little forks that I had abandoned. Especially one that was sent to me from Baja California Sur (it literally traveled from end to end of Mexico).

Glad you are back to the axe and the rasp and the sandpaper! Your work is always a delight. These two are no exception!

I'm more into the rhythm of Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker.

      Thank you very much mates.
I was in a bit of a rush to finish doing it. I have to go on a business trip for a few weeks and I didn't want to leave it without its finishes.

      Beautiful work!
Other than sand paper and elbow grease, what finishes did you use? Love the smooth satin sheen.

After sanding at 2000, I give it a linseed oil bath (immersion), let it dry. Finally, I apply several coats of an emulsion of a mixture of beeswax and carnauba and polish it with a cotton cloth disc.
