So do they build conus on thanksgiving ?
Yes they do !!!!!! You’re the winner
Holidays in my world are I would say normal lonely , wife and Family are nowhere to be seen wife as vacationing somewhere on the East Coast for a month or so butt. That’s OK because I’m OK with myself Lol and I got Xena and Nugget
So this Thanksgiving I decided that I need to get a certain conus out of my head I don’t know how she’ll turn out on the end she’ll shoot but I don’t know what she’ll look like
Of course I’m using bocote and my white G 10 , because I want it to belong to a real nice set I am collecting otherwise I would’ve done it with different wood just to try it out but hey it’s Thanksgiving just got to work
Build along hope you don’t mind but I figure it might entice somebody who hasn’t tried this to try it
I have hidden pens and with my final product I may see the pins on the backside of the slingshot with the grove because I plan on just taking them very thin and very small they’re just to add more to the grove making the G10 pop I hope
Butt Errors and design changes you never know what I will end up with
I am not a builder and I can screw it up real quick Lol
So here we go
1. G10 drill pilot holes for hidden pens

2. Drill holes and 1/2 for gap

3. Cut gap and drill bocote and all drill all spacers and drill non groved side facing u
In two steps drill cut

4. Next I found some Bocote imagine that
This is an awful thick piece for what I want to obtain I am actually going to bring it down to between 4 mm and 8 mm thick just an outer layer on the groove side of the frame
Plan on quarter inch into the G 10 1/4 inch of Bocote making half inch groove .?
My dream !!!!! Lol don’t have the right saw to cut this thinner . Yet !!!! So the hand grinder will knock off most of it knife grinder finish the rest it’s not the prettiest bocote but it matches for what I want to obtain on each side of the grove . Man we’re overthinking this stuff !!!!

5. Ok Epoxy time I used five minute epoxy I could’ve used 15 minute epoxylining all the pens up and getting everything squished together in a short period of time was challenging its been glued for almost 1 1/2 hours Giving it extra time to dry because it is cold here

So here now comes the fun part
My idea which I should not tell anybody because it may not end up looking like that lol
Then I can’t say oh I thought of that
Is to make the G 10 the star of the show on the groove side of the conus I will just have two slivers of bocote 1/4” Tapered hopefully highlighting the G 10 on that side
The forks will round over on the G 10
Then on the pretty side of the conus facing you on the forks I’m going to try to narrow it down to the point if you had a fork hit you would be hitting G 10 and not Bocote don’t know if I can accomplish that I don’t wanna make it too thin up there I will see in the making
I’m sure in an hour or so I’ll have it all screwed up more pictures to come
Undefined Thanksgiving conus?
