A couple weeks ago I could not spell nor pronounce SWOPFS. Didn't know what it was and could not have used it in a sentence. Now I've built one! Completely inspired by Mr Muz's recent trade, and the fact that I got one from Cruiser, I have fallen in love with the little gems. When I got it from Cruiser in early December, just thought it was a funky PFS with a sidways fat handle. Now I know it is a Slim Waist Original Pickle Fork that was build by PawPawsailor. So if you read this Perry, awesome and you do great work! I also learned that the same frame made its way from Mr Muz to Cruiser back at the beginning of time and the dark ages. If it passed any other hands, just speak up as I would like to know. So long story short, I did my research, studied lots of pictures, drew a router template in Fusion 360, cut out a bamboo core, and made a Purple heart/Walnut palm swell. Using the one from Cruiser as a guide, I shaped and sanded until it looked about right. Finish is Spar Urethane as I have read that Purple Heart needs ozone protection to stay purple. Honorable mention to Muz as I have shared pics with him and he's given some really good advice to me along this build. Thank's Muz, the tips were very helpfull. This is the original piece from Muz to Cruzer to Me. Bamboo Core - Done! Palm Swells - Ready (Router cut raw shape) Long live Titebond! Add a little bit of belt and spindle sander.... Little Shoe-Shine with some sandpaper. and a couple coats of Spar Urethane for good looks! All dressed up and ready to Party! Not bad for first shots on a brand new frame! It's a keeper for sure. ...and the obligatory can cuts! Covert5 has us all doing horizontal cuts this year! Nice change in the hanging can.
