Ive had the build on the go for a while now and been so indecisive ive gone backwards and forwards with ideas for the swell. On receipt of a package from @AdamvVS im which he included some python micarta my decision was made,

6mm aluminium Stanley pfs core, laminated with 3mm grey G10 faces, 1mm toxic green spacers and python micarta swells. Sanded to 3000 grit and machine polished.

    Hope you like it PXL_20210216_190650202.jpg PXL_20210216_190736144.jpg PXL_20210216_190642232.jpg PXL_20210216_190622683.jpg PXL_20210216_190608790.jpg PXL_20210216_190552652.jpg

It's ok I suppose if you like that type of thing. Not jealous in the slightest.

Absolutely Beautiful! Nicely done Rich. :tu:

Looks like you went with long bands? Can you share more on the business end of it? Tube size, length, pseudo taper amount? I've got a regular stanley from Joe-032 on the way. Just taking notes for the future. I like the tabs and screws you used. Nice touch.

Beautiful build Rich....got any tips for the sanding process that’s best to use on Aluminum cores, as far as trying to get the highest polish, but not get the Aluminum dust / dirt into the wood pores ?

Thankyou Monroe, they are 2040 tubes just short of 8 inches long with a 3.5 inch psuedo taper, plenty of zip for 8mm steels.

Hey buddy, thankyou, i literally hate working aluminium [emoji1787] my ocd finds me forever going up and down grits. I usually sand high to 3000 then polish, firstly with red rouge to remove minor imperfections and then a final buff with finishing compound.

I have always found wood and aluminium cores a pain, it has always been a trade off especially with light coloured wood, personally id opt for a g10 core for ease [emoji23]. Ive tried masking it up , removing any sanding residue and unfortunately ive never been entirely happy with the end result

I had no idea what that micarta looked like finished. When I first saw that slingshot I was like very cool. Looked at it closer and thought very cool again. Then read tge post.
Very decent frame. Looks like a little bomber of a frame! Your work is fantastic!
I was shooting one of the frames you sent me yesterday. It put me in a good mood. Thanks again.
That's a choice looking frame Would like to see you taking some shots with it. Excellent choice of shape too!
