    I'm just posting this to hear others thoughts like everything else in slingshots it's all personal preference.
    We're all told to practice are fourm elbow up back straight dah dah dah .. but how many of us really do it ? Not me lol an I bet a lot of us don't drive are cars with are hands at 10 and 2 or put are pinky fingers up when we drink tea.
    Myself I shoot instinctively as fast as I can get the marble in the pouch forks straight up and down just winging them I have more fun that way. FB_IMG_1529022217240.jpg I just let go when it feels right
    I can't wait to see some pictures and read how you all do it!

      This is an old video I made for some kinfolk in Oregon that I shipped a couple of chalice shaped board cut slings I made them. This is pretty much how I shoot most shooters. Brace shown here but I'm mostly a pinch grip shooter. I have to aim in order to hit anything. Wish I could just rock and fire though but I'm not too good at it.

      My stance is terrible which is probably why my shooting is bad.

      I turn the slingshot sideways, sight down the bands, and stand the same as I do when shooting a rifle or bow. Shot those for so long before I got started with slingshots I never had to put much thought into it.
      On a side note I also have a hitchhiker's thumb and prefer to thumb brace. I've often wondered if the folks who call thumb brace uncomfortable and prefer pinch or hammer grip have straight thumbs.

      @Bob E

      I have straight arthritic thumbs, so a slight hybrid pinched grip.

      I think I was around 8 or 9 years old when I started shooting slingshots...so all 3 (bows, long guns, and flips) are mixed up.

      I kind of stand in a hybrid boxer's stance, not so sideways as a bow, bend my knees a little.

      About like I have thrown a lead left jab and have the right cross coming...

      I have spent a lot of time and effort this year to shoot completely instinctive and no aiming. It is not pretty. hahaha...But it is starting to come together.

      Of course, I have had tons of help from forum members.

      You have inspired me to try something @thehappyhippy ! Throughout my slingshot journey I have tried lots and lots of different stuff, but the one thing I never spent any time on is shooting with the forks upright. That pic you posted got me to thinking. So I picked up a frame, stood in front of a mirror and messed around with holding vertically. Liked what I was seeing so went to the basement to try it. Connected on target with my first shot! So here I was about to reply to this post to tell you how I shoot and now I pretty much shoot like you do! As for aiming, I'm a traditional archer for over 30 years and shoot slingshots much like a longbow. I am aware of the slingshot in my peripheral vision, but I don't focus on the frame or a particular reference point. I pay attention to band and pouch alignment as I am drawing, but I don't like to hold at anchor for more than a second or two, and I let rip when it feels right. Thanks for the unintentional inspiration!

      I shoot forks up...

      @Tex-shooter You, friend, have been blessed...I bet donuts to dollars being married to her helped you become the shooter you are.

      I want that shooting form for myself.
