Awesome, looking forward to seeing your work. Most important part of the design is the angle on the end of the fork tips and the slight back angle on the gap. These are important for good band action and clearance for the pouch when shooting.

      Thanks Palmettoflyer!

I am aiming for about 15 - 20° of back angle on the fork tips and gap, and a slight bevel.

I was considering cutting in some band grooves too, but the Conus doesn't look like it needs it?

I will admit I am a bit wary about shooting one of these though!

Time to stop stuffing around with this one.

Shaping done. Sanding and finishing, then banding it up. Should make a good little shooter, but not the jumbo conus I was hoping for.

I'll chalk this one up to experience I think. I like the conus because of the simple design and should've left it at that. Lucky I have a whole tree left of this red ironbark to get it right with next time.
