Ok, after a few weeks of shooting this stuff my conclusion is this:

The 1/16 thickness is - good. It isn't slow. It packs a punch, but the trade off is its heavy! Forget about 30/20 taper, ive found that 15/10 is all you need, its very powerful - putting a 10mm lead through 2 sides of a bean can powerful.

For target shooting 3/8 steels then all you need is a 5mm straight cut, that will give you plenty of power. Its very versatile stuff.

Band life is brilliant. Ive been shooting this 5mm straight cut set now for a week solid and cant see any signs of ware. Im very impressed.

Ok bad points: Stretch- 400% ish. For my 40" draw I cut 10" bands.

Draw weight - it is a heavier band. The 15/10 taper I will liken to looped 1842 tubes. Its not a light band. But - it lasts forever and packs a very good punch.

Just my thoughts, take it as you will. But I would very much recommend it. Especially for target shooters as a sheet is $5 and a 5mm straight cut is all you need. And it lasts a long time! Go check out simple shot if your interested you wont be disappointed

    Thanks all

    Mr S,
Great post and thanks for sharing what you've learned about the gum rubber. I like flats better than tubes but like the durability of tubes. Looks like this gum rubber might be a way to get the best of both?
    Thanks

Hey @ghost ! What size ammo you using with that? What would be a good hunting combo in your opinion?

Yes 1/2 steel marbles and lead shoot good out of it and hits hard.

I use the 1/16 from simple shot cut at ten inches long 3/8 inch wide. It will handle any rock I can feed it. Not real fast but packs a huge wallop. No problem denting in the whole side of a bean can with one shot. I've shot a lot of different materials and this stuff has outlasted them all so far.

I fancy trying this stuff out as well as the spanish gum rubber for target shooting. Simplest is awesome wish the UK had something like it.

Yeh that's the only pain mate. I ordered from simpleshot and the delivery was around £12 plus it took two weeks to arrive.

Shame they havnt got a uk branch lol. I usually order from slingshotchannel/store but the selection isn't very wide.

I've done up a couple of bandsets with some gum rubber sheets from simpleshot (straight 5/8ths) with an active length of 10 inch. Not quite as fast as the TBG but still very strong. It also keeps a good zip going in the extreme cold (about -5°f) while the TBG gets really sluggish.
It also seems to twist up less and allow quicker follow up shots.

Ive been using 15/10 taper and .395leads... More than happy with the power - and the band life.

Thanks for the tip about milbro, I never thought to look there. Much appreciated
