This has been sitting on my workbench for quite a while and I finally had time to finish it. I think I showed some of the early pictures before but I'll show them again so everyone can see how this thing started. It was a chunky piece of red alder with twisty grain.

I think this was the last picture that I posted and how it looked for a few months before I was able to get back to working on it.

I ground, hacked, filed and sanded away and came up with this:

I finished it with linseed oil and paste wax, and the only thing left to do is band it up and give it to a friend. :)

Thanks! I tend to be a lot busier in the summer and don't have as much time for hobbies. I should be getting back to a few more projects soon.

That is a beauty Remnar, stunning grain to it, and any friend would be blessed to own that one for sure.

A very nice piece of work! I like it a lot! Very good for you and even better for your friend! :)
At what stage did you decide what shape it will be? I mean, did you picture the form of it at the time when you cut it down from the tree, or was it just while you were going along in progress?

      Thanks!
I had no idea what it was going to look like when I started. I can't remember exactly when I decided to go with an ergo type design but it wasn't until much later in the carving.
