    Hi,

My first try and no power tools, rough cut with a hand wire saw. Waiting for my wood file to arrive before I proceed. Never tried actual woodwork. Any suggestions would be great. Using Mule by Toddy template shrunk to 95% as my wood is a 90mm width.

Looks like you are off to a great start.
Files, rasps and sandpaper are great ways to shape and finish a fork.
And the mule holds up well at reduced sizes.
Looking forward to seeing the final shooter!

I overlooked welcoming you to the forum earlier, but welcome!
That mule is really looking great.
Is that wood mahogany? It looks quite dense.
No one would guess this is your first wood working effort from these results.

Seems like a good choice of wood. We may have seen it over here as Luaun or Meranti.

      Haha nsfc,

Actually it is my first woodworking project but I did learn some woodworking when I was in school 40 years ago. But I am pretty handy with a saw and hammer as I do a simple repair like patching my broken fences. Yes I think I am addicted to this and with this COVID thing looks like it had accelerated my retirement plan. So plenty of time.

Hey glad to had stumble to this forum and I am fascinated with the skill both in making and shooting. BTW I am from Malaysia.

My bands should be here next week, now to make a catch box as I had not shot a catapult for many years. I will go with the bucket version any pointers would be most welcome.

Yes, I can't see it in my Tapatalk as well but can see it on my PC. Check out the media as I uploaded it into my media section. Still finding my way around this forum.

Andy, you can load the pic directly from your phone if you have it on there by clicking on the little square Mountain looking symbol at the bottom left of your screen, then select the pic, hit done, choose the size you want it to be ( I always choose Medium so it loads faster ), then Reply at top right of screen to post it.

      Cool, looks very good.

That wood has some very interesting and tight grain.....looks like it would be very hard.

Catch boxes come in many different shapes and styles. I think there is a page of members catch boxes on this forum. You can go really nice and expensive or back yard budget build. Buckets or 50 gal plastic rain barrels work well. What ever you come up with you need something to dampen the ammo from the back. Like layered tee shirts, or I use a black bed sheet folded over and over on its self. Because the thread count is high they are cheap and the black/dark color help the target and ammo show up better. I put the unfitted top sheet under my catch box out front to catch any that may bounce out. I hope this helps.
