I got some more bands and pouches from GZK. Trying .72 yellow and green. .7 yellow "specialist" and they threw in some .62 black. Gonna tinker with tapers and see what's what. Is that $87 chrony on Amazon worth the money? I'd be interested in some speed differences with all the materials and tapers. I know there's tons of info out there but I'm a hands on kind of guy....lol. This is one of the best hobbies/sports I've come across in a long while ... and I used to be a pro mountain biker (in the 90s ...haha)

Everyone needs a mail drop from GZK to brighten the evening. Chronys are worth it if ya shoot air guns or powder guns but for slingshots only buy another frame. If you gotta go down the rabbit hole, look at midwayusa for a caldwell.

I do shoot air rifles and a bunch of other ballistic things … lol. Just trying to figure out the sweet spot for tapers and thickness for different ammo. I’m shooting 5/16” steel … 3/8” steel and 3/8” clay (which varies a lot) thanks for the input

I got in some gzk green .72 and .76 a while back. I have a Cadwell chronograph and did a bunch of taper and elongation testing on all the different ammo sizes. This should help out and save you a bunch of rubber & time. I shoot the gzk.76 green for hunting and it drops squirrels and pigeons dead with 3/8th and up. I like shooting .44cal lead or #000 buckshot for hunting squirrel because body shots inside 25 yards will still put them out if I miss the head. Happy shooting.

The one on Amazon works well. It is often available for less on Ebay or Aliexpress. But Amazon may get it to you quicker.

Great data. Very interesting results on the taper variations and how they compare as the ammo weight changes. Thanks for posting!

This is the best chronograph I've ever seen for slingshots. I love it. Averages your speeds per set round of shots and everything. Well worth the 120 I gave for it[IMG]

This is great info … looks like 25/10 or 25/15 is the right taper for max speed. That said … being an engineer, I may get a chrony anyhow … lol

It is worth having one to know exactly what your rig can do. Also the race to 400fps has already started. I touched 379fps with 1/4 steel without any band heating. 400fps should be easy to hit in the heat of summer.
