Got this beauty in the mail yesterday! Big thank you to @StringSlap for sending it to me along with a couple bags of 3/8” clay ammo. The frame is a beautiful oak natural that fits extremely well in the hand, perfect balance of knots and grain, and just the right amount of curve to be a good intuitive shooter. I could hardly wait to give it a go but had to hold off until my day job was done for the day.
I’ve shot clay ammo before, but what I had was the brand that is variable in size and didn’t have the hard coat finish. The ammo that Steve sent is all perfectly sized and appears to have a glaze coat of some kind. So I was anxious to give it a go and see how this clay ammo compared to my other shooting experience.
Banded up the frame with some red Precise, my favorite SuperSure Roo pouch, and headed to the backyard shooting range. A couple shots on a piece of cardboard to get the feel, then attacked a drink can to see how much penetration the clay ammo had. It did take a few extra shots, but the ammo flew straight, true, and made quick work of the drink can. So this is my first ever clay ammo can cut. So if anyone is on the fence about the hitting power of clay, it will rip up a can very nicely!
So again a big thank you to StringSlap for sending this beautiful and awesome natural to me and greatly appreciate the new clay ammo.
