I done a little messing around in the shop this afternoon after my can bash session. Ordered some material for Project CopyCat (more to come on that soon). Grabbed a 3.5” x 6” piece of oak out of the scrap bucket and started drawing lines on it. Gave it quick cut out kinda liked how it fit so I done a little sanding and shaping. Well then I liked how that felt so I decided to band it up. I happened to find a couple of Chicago screws so went on and made it a sure fire experiment with gypsy tabs and a matching hand cut pouch. So far I like it. I’m going to shoot it a bit more tomorrow and see if I still like it then I’ll finish it on up and make it pretty like you guys do.

I don’t why it looks so wonky in the pictures lol. It’s actually cut and drilled straight.

That's a great piece of oak!
And I don't know if you did this on purpose or not, but the Y or V shape you cut ensures there is no short grain to weaken the fork area.
      Great start!
Looking forward to the finished product.
      I'd shoot it!

Thanks for all the kind words. I put it through it’s paces today. I had to change my anchor a bit but not too much. I guess I’m just set in my ways from only shooting one frame for so long lol.

The homemade pouch gave up so I had to put on one from simpleshot but that’s no big deal. I think I want to make some more narrow tabs to close the gap a little.

I’m going to try to give this one all my shooting time this week and see how we bond.

Go for it man! It’s just as much fun for me to build them as is it is to shoot them. And then when somebody actually wants one of yours it’s pretty flattering as well.
