    Hi there folks,

I harvested a fork of dogwood, and very much like it's feel in my hand. But, the 2 forks vary slightly in width. The skinnier one is .53 in/13.6mm, and the bigger one is .69 in/17.6mm. Will this difference in size affect performance? I hate to carve it any more, as i like the way it is now. But if not carving it means sacrificing performance i may need to just buck up and do it. Thanks in advance.

Honestly it doesn’t really matter. Watch guys shoot bareback, and you’ll see that “fork width” and symmetry don’t really affect anything. Pay attention to an even pull and clean release. Those two things are much more important than your fork configuration. Any two points (your forks) make a straight line. Square up to the target and release properly, and with practice you’ll be accurate.

      Yep! Not much.
Yep! Not much. Lots of forgiveness in a shooter and a lot of accuracy in fairly crazy shapes.

Ok sweet! Thank y'all for your feedback. Once I get it banded up I'll take a pic of it and post it in homemade slingshots.

Nope, not gonna make any difference in your accuracy (unless it messes with your mind).

No two of my sling designs are alike, and each one has a different personality, different anchor points, and band lengths, pfs, ott, ttf, full bf, partial bf, gangsta to hammergrip (which I don't like). I'm only lacking trying a nattie, but guessing it will be the same; just another animal.
