This is how I cut bands. The slide cutter I'm using is a Fiskars. Got it at Walmart.

Slick! Thanks for the taping the rubber tip. Assuming replaceable blades? Any idea of the replacement blade ~cost?

Just happen to purchase a new 5 pack of the Fiskars 45mm for the hand rotary cutter. 1st new 5 pack in years. Cutting material they have lasted. Cutting bands seems to dull them more rapidly. Thinking this tool would deliver more consistent 90 degree cuts. Always wondered if any wobble laterally when using a hand cutter effected the durability? Probably not. Over thinking this process. Need to just cut, band and go shoot.

I over think stuff too lol! Cutting two bands at the same time probably helps at least getting a set more alike. I've tried cutting more than two but the blade just doesn't plunge deep enough. I saw Nick Hegarty cut several at once with a similar rig but mine won't.

Something I thought of in case it matters to any of you. In the video I'm cutting .3mm precise cold weather bands. I've cut two layers which make one band set with latex thickness between .3mm -.6mm mostly. I've cut some .7mm couple times but it's pushing it. Some of the heavy duty bands would need to be cut one layer at a time. If the the cutter was 50-60mm it'd probably work but I haven't seen one as of yet. Thought I better mention that in case anyone was looking to buy one and expect it to cut two layer of the thickest bands. I saw Nick Hegarty cut four layers of TBG with a similar rig but mine won't do it. I haven't found one quit like what he's using as of yet.

Thanks CV! This works pretty good up .6 cutting two at a time. I've cut .7 but it's pushing it. Anything over that probably be better to cut singles. As stated in a previous post I saw a video of Nick Hegarty cutting up to four layers of TBG but I haven't been able to source the cutter he's using here in the states any where. The one I'm using won't do it. It looks like it would go a little deeper if the cutter holder was modified for more clearance but I haven't tried to come up with anything on that yet.

Is the unit a mat cutter? My sister is an artist. During her "starving artist" years she would mat and frame the pieces as part of the cost. Really picky when it came to mat cutters. Very clean cuts through some thick material. Might be the tool for cutting multi-layers of rubber. Price of the tool might be too high v. the rotary tool.

Just did quick google. The framing mat cutters all run into the hundred plus price range. Too much for this person.

Yes I agree in the hundreds is a little pricey. The box mine came in says it is designed for cutting up to eight layers of fabric but that's a lot thinner than latex I'm sure. Like I say for the bands I've been cutting it usually cuts ok. If I find out a reasonable priced cutter that will cut thick doubles or two sets of average bands like the one Nick is using I'll post an update.
