    Priceless fun!

    Not the prettiest sling, but not bad for about an hours work. I just like seeing how quickly I can make something usable. Also acts as a reminder to anyone that might think they don't have the tools, or skills, to carve out a simple natty. Used a cheap HF round rasp to smooth a bump at the bottom of the forks, but could have left it. Then a few minutes with 80 grit and a once over with a fine sanding sponge. I really like using Howard Feed-N-Wax for the finish. Pics don't show it well, but it brings out the grain and the lighter wood has a nice amber color.

      Thanks! I have so many other frames that I shoot. I just get the urge to whittle every once in a while. Usually set the natties aside and eventually give them away.

      Thanks, Monroe! The bottom fork kicks back a bit. If it doesn't shoot well I'll cut the forks back to the point where they are even. Pic doesn't show it but there is some nice figuring on the top fork and wanted to leave it long if I could.

      Yes it's oak. The knife is a Schrade Imperial, with faux pearl scales. It was only $7 so I just added it to my order the last time I bought a couple of knives. Lives at the bottom of my pocket!
