Recently I found this coin when going through some old stuff. 20201220_090412.jpg 20201220_090420.jpg

The story behind how I have it is about 8 to 10 years ago I made a roof as part of a conservatory for the founder of this charity and another small roof for the offices of the charity, unfortunately I don't have a picture of the finished job but do have one of it in the workshop, IMAG0270.jpg
As the guys finished instal it in the states the owner gave the guys on site a handful of these coins to give to the guys who worked on the job so that's why I have it.

I'm not sure why they are given out, I think it's just a token gesture to say thank you, but I thought some of you guy's especially the veterans out there might find it interesting, I've included a link to the charity below.

    Cheers

    Phill

Nice. I've got a couple of their houses in my jurisdiction. You don't see the coins very often. Only seen one or two over the years.

That is an Honor Coin. They are given for service. If you are a Vet In a vet bar and someone challenges you to show your coin (A Short Snorter) and you ain't got it, you have to buy a round.I got one as a gift and displayed it until I realized that I had neither earned nor deserved it.

That's interesting to know, I would never carry it around or even pretend to be a veteran, if that's the case though I wonder why we were given them?

Nowadays coins are mainly given in appreciation of a service done. He was thanking you for a job well done.

There are some that are given only for heroic action and/or selfless deeds.
