Been meaning to build one of these for a while really helps out when doing the shoe shine sanding method, I find the 25mm wide cloth backed abrasive to be the best or old belt sander belts work well. The paper backed stuff just rips.

Great idea with the diving board. Now if I just had a nice vise to put it into! I have a old kitchen table in my workshop that has a similar open edge all the way around. That's how I held the SWOPFS when I made it. I like the idea to get it up higher. Might need to get creative too!

Lizard is awesome! You do a really good job on all the middle core laminations!

Sweet idea...and nice work all around!
I've seen some guys use Gorilla tape for a fortified backing then cut it into desired widths for the detailed "shoeshine" method as well, looks promising...

I’ve tried the gorilla tape backing of sandpaper it really works well even on thin paper. Paper seems to last a long time!
