      I have made a few out of japanese privet. Not the prettiest wood there is, but it is plenty strong. I would think chinese privet would be the similar.

      I have never knowingly used any. Everything in a brush pile looks about the same. It may be a roaster to get some color and grain. Shrub wood is good stuff. Anytime I see cut Red Tipped Photinia I'm on it.
