I just finished up this White Oak ergo and a Cherry fork that I left the bark on.
The Cherry really has some uneventful grain and since the bark was smooth I thought I'd leave it alone, I just smoothed out the rough spots and finished it with a few coats of Teak Oil. 0920201144.jpg 0920201145.jpg 0920201145a.jpg

Nice frames Jake, I too love the look of that Cherry bark.

I have 3 Cherry frames laying in the floorboard of my truck, from the deadfall branch I mooched on the way home last Friday, that I may do this same treatment to them. I might put a coat of CA over the bark first.

Cool, wasn't sure what Cherry looks like in the raw. Now I'll keep my eyes open when I travel. Not much Cherry in my neck of the woods on the southeast coast.

Let us know how the shoot?

We have quite a few on our property, they're not Sweet Cherry, unfortunately. They are "Black Cherry" or many call them "Choke Cherry". Very small fruit and mostly pit, they are edible but not many people use them.
I've made a Cherry Liquor out of them, sugar and vodka that was very good.

It's not my design, I was given a frame that I copied, it is a very comfortable grip, for sure.

I'm a little slow..... I copied your design because it's one of the most comfortable frames I've ever shot!! That baby locks right into the hand, I added band grooves today ....not that it needs 'em, I just have to fidget!! :tu:

Hey Jake, do you know what time of year you cut the Cherry fork ?
The ones I’ve been working on have much lighter bark, but the same figuring

Darrell, we have a lot of them around here and I'm sure it's just from branches I cut back to let more light in the flower beds. I wouldn't know the best time to cut them but I bet this is from early summer. Lovely fork you have there, my man!!!
