I made a new band cutting jig to simplify cutting my bands, it sure makes cutting my tapered bands a lot easier. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

The more I look at it the more I like it :)
Hadn't seen this type of jig before.
      Thank you for sharing :tu:

I agree that this is a great idea. I have looked a few times for the laser cut templates and never see good ones for long bands either. Most are in the size range for short bands. Good idea Ron to use the cam clamps to preserve your finger length!

I may try something like that for long bands too. No matter how careful I am I seem to have spots where the band pulls out from under the straight edge and gives me slightly wider spots.

I don't know if you can tell by my pictures or not, but I put a piece of very fine grit self adhesive sand paper on the bottom side of the template to keep the latex from moving as I cut it. Works Great!

Yes I like the idea. Btw what size of ammo and distance are you shooting with 24 to 19 taper. Bigger than 3/8? I am just curious. I seriously need to make myself a chart. Even thought I don’t goto to many different cuts (tapers or widths lately). I go through phases where I will test different ones with different thicknesses of bands. . I just need to chart it for self. Hey but nice jig.

I haven't used that tapper for a long time, but the best that I can remember is I was using 7/16" and some 1/2" steel.

      Right now I'm using 22mm to 18mm × 5.5 with a 12" active band length.

I built one just like that! Harold Dusch showed me the one he made at the last ECST. It’s all I use anymore. 38F99347-05B5-4D68-AA31-BE0B5608C2D7.jpeg

That's the only one I've seen besides the one that I made, I guess someone else had the same idea.

Your right the jig works fantastic.

I like your design, but I took the easy way out and ordered one from Snipersling. Should arrive soon.

      I
like your jig. A couple years ago I made something similar. I never posted about it but I did take it ECST and SEST to show to a few people. From its building I have not used anything else to cut bands. The best part is that you can have several taper templates. I do not use self adhesive sandpaper, but double sided scotch tape to hold the sand paper on.

This is my version, I have been using it a couple years. I do not use anything else to cut bands now. I have multiple templates for different tapers.
