This is a discussion that pops up from time to time. I think the forum consensus boils down to this:
-You are entitled to copy anything (commercial, copywrited, or even patented) as long as it is for your own use.
-If you post your copy, credit the designer
-If you seek permission from the designer before making a copy for your own use, you are going above and beyond, and get a gold star from the slingshot board of etiquette.

Yes, above all credit the designer, a little praise goes a long way.

 

First and foremost is as said, Credit where credit is due.
I started out on the Rebel forum and this question came up and all said the same... with one caveat. "If you don't want it copied don't post it. But if you do and it is? Don't bitch."

 

It's a free world, do as you wish.

 

Agreed, mentioning no names ive even given full credit to a designer for a frame i made for personal use still somehow managed to get grief about it

I just think it's important to keep the original styles name on your copy, just for identification purposes. But it also gives credence to the originator.

 

Ha ha, if you had studied and learnt from the master you would have been allowed to make that frame, I still laugh about that to this day lol.

 

Honestly its water off a ducks back pal, it wasnt the OPFS [emoji23]
