If you are not familiar with the PFS Hunter, it is a design by Gamekeeper John. So rightfully so, all credit to John for this frame design. I was on a business trip a few weeks ago and while surfing the YouTubes for intertainment, I found John showing off his concept PFS Frame called the Hunter. This may still be available from him, but I have no idea. I snagged a picture out of the video and commenced to playing with it in Fusion 360. Similar to the PFS Colt that I built for Mr Muz a while back, I put layers on this one but something extra that I did for the Colt.

When I assembled the Colt, I felt like it needed more strength in the neck of the frame than the 3D print would provide. So I used my dremel and put slots for steel rods. Worked pretty good and thought that I would plan that up front for my next build. Where, here it is.

The middle layer has designed slots for .09" hard music wire. (by product from another hobby) The music wire is hardened steel and very stiff. In the assembly process, I built the middle first and then the outside scales. Worked great and shoots really well. Pictures will show more than I can type.

Would the wire set up like that help strengthen larger slings with "weaker" or thinner wood?

Be careful, PFS shooting will extend the recovery time of getting over the sling flu.

Not only does it add strength to the frame (any frame), it adds a touch of extra weight. Still need to understand that a 3D printed frame is not very robust. It won't take a frame hit well at all. So, don't look to 3D printing frames unless you have pretty good technique.

Print your master, and then cast in a solid resin. Or just make one out of HDPE.

Hahahaha 3D printing the man says. I had to ask my daughter about how a forum worked. But thanks for the info I've got a frame I really want to do but the neck was a little iffy. :bw:

Nice tutorial. The metal rods are a good idea for weaker material.

Did you get an orange can target to go with the new orange pfs? Are we color matching targets to our slings now, I need to know so I can stay up on what the cool kids are doing.

Is there any other choice? By the way, the orange can is "Shock Top" ! Sorta fitting name for a target can. Frame selection based on the target prey.
