Hi I'm a new shooter and have only been using plastic ammo but today I got some steel ammo and I think it is more accurate than plastic but I don't know if my aim is better or the ammo ?

What type of plastic ammo ? Even lighter weight steel ammo can be highly inaccurate if paired with heavy bands this is easily demonstrated with a really hot band for .177 bbs. You can get those bbs absolutely screamin fast but you’ll notice about 20’ from your sling the projectile will veer off course unpredictably. You’re over powering a super light weight projectile causing wonky flight path for your shot. This is why it’s important to experiment with both your preferred ammo(s) but also to think of your bands and ammo as a team... make them balanced and they will provide awesome speed and energy as well as accurate light draw weight. Hard concept to grasp in the beginning but it’ll make sense as you shoot more. Good luck from upstate NY :)

Hello Jose, welcome to the community, your question seems very correct and well posed, that is half of the answer. :)
In general, metal ammunition has a higher density (greater weight in the same or less volume) than plastic ammunition, which allows it to better counteract the density of the air and hide our own shortcomings as shooters.
:ninja: The popular trend is to attribute the successes to our technique and the errors to the ammunition, the bands, the wind and the lie that I told you. For example and speaking of metal ammunition, some blame small calibers for producing erratic trajectories, the truth is small ammunition allows very flat and fast trajectories but they are much more sensitive to our release and make our technical deficiencies more evident, when they finish being erratic is because we propose it so.
If to this we add some heavy bands that make us temper the pulse, the effect of our error is multiplied :ninja:
