Seems like I've missed a fair amount here in the last few months. Reading your status history helped shed a bit of light on it. I decided to make myself at home here instead of the other forum way back when because I felt like we had more of a community. Feels like it's getting away from that which is a shame for sure.

Not really for wood working, but for metal i will get sandpaper pads upto 12,000 at hobby lobby. I get sheets of good sandpaper from an automotive paint store.

why did you have fps on your physics exam? don't they make you use proper metrics at your School? nevermind, It doesn't very fast in Meters. a few people can almost run that fast..

I won't be ordering from Simpleshot either due to how expensive duty is to get it into the country on top of the already crazy expensive shipping charge. Just thought it might be a good buy for the guys in the states who get free shipping!

What width of spacers are typically used? 1/16"?

Spacers are used for different purposes and related to different materials. For a metal core that will not be bonded to outer layers or laminate‘s by glue or epoxy, the spacers are more aesthetic. I use single layer paper saturated with epoxy to bond laminate’s together. In this case, the single layer of micarta serves a bonding purpose creating a strong substrate for the glue to hold the laminate’s together.

I agree with Muz. Depending on how you want the laminate to look. 0.5mm (1/64th or close to that) aluminium spacer is a nice accent spacer where as 2 or 3mm (1/8 to 5/32) paper micarta is a nice colour option but it's bolder. So depending on how subtle you want the spacer depends on how thick you make it.
