    Recently I've been experimenting with light weight bands, and seeing how much speed I can get out of 8 and 9.5mm steel, shooting both full butterfly and short draw. The following are the results.
    GZK green .54, short draw, 9.5mm steel averaged 304.6, with 310 fps being the highest speed.

    Precise yellow .5, full butterfly, and 9.5 was almost 20 fps faster, with a top speed of 329 fps.

    GZK green .76, short draw, 9.5mm was surprising. This is my current short draw hunting setup. This speed was on a cold shot, but I'm highly impressed with a 326 fps cold shot.

    I only tested the 8mm with the Precise yellow .5, and holy cow is this stuff moving! The first shot with it measured 356 fps, with the final shot moving at 367 fps!

    The frames I used for testing were as follows

    LBS mega - full butterfly 22-13 taper
    Simple Shot Hairsplitter - .54 short 25-18 taper
    Simple Shot Scout XT - .76 short 25-15 taper

    All tests were done on a windy, cloudy day. I'm anxious to see what these setups will do on a warmer, calm day. I believe the Precise+8mm combo will break 400 fps. Speed testing is one of the only ways we can really calculate performance, and with these speeds we can all see that these light band sets are actually moving the ammo effectively enough to kill anything within reason.

      I tried testing the .76 butterfly, but it's so windy I kept getting an error. As soon as I'm able I'll edit the post with those results

      That's interesting because I just answered a question on one of my posts (GZK .54) and I also found only a 20 fps increase from short draw to full butterfly, which is why I'm sticking with my more accurate short draw shooting. Glad my numbers weren't a fluke!

      What draw length are you talking about to get those numbers? I'm assuming the bands are about maxed out? I'm getting 250 fps with GZK .54, 30" draw and 6.5" active. That's only 460% elongation for a smooth draw.

      For butterfly I go a full 76 inches, for short draw I go 32ish. I anchor in my ear on short draw. I do my best to go 550-600% on both.
      What color GZK are you using? This sounds crazy but there is a measurable performance difference between orange, green, and black. Orange is the slowest from what I've found

      Green .54 at only 460% elongation.

      I just got finished doing some testing and was going to add this to my other thread. I just tested GZK .62 orange (yellow) to compare to the .54 green. Used same exact band cut, ammo, etc. The .62 shot at the same exact velocity (250 fps) as the green .54, but at a smoother draw and less snappy feel to the shot cycle. It also shot more to point of aim than the .54, which was shooting high. This may be a band I can live with for a while.

      If you were to max that out for both cuts you would break 300 fps easily. I'm really surprised at the ease of draw I have with the .76, it's heavier than what I usually shoot by a long shot

      Good information! Thanks for posting!
      One thing I learned about shooting full butterfly over the chrony - if you stand too close you get errors from the bands breaking the plane of the first senser!. Don't know if that was causing your errors or not, though.

      It's very possible. If the weather permits tomorrow I'll try again. I wondered about if they were doing that but they were moving so fast I couldn't tell
