    Hey Y'all. Madrona trees (Arbutus Menziesii) are pretty robust in that they can let an entire branch or even parts of the trunk die off while overlapping them with new growth and thriving. They are my favorite tree for this and many other reasons. The natural fork shown here is good example of this common occurrence. However, the fork gap was too narrow for my liking so I glued it up with a homemade bluejean micarta stringer. It was actually my first time utilizing composite materials like this. I only used hand tools to make it and yes there was some foul language required as well. The fork gap is 1.75inches and the tines are 1.25inches wide. I call this one WARHORN.

      Thanks Y'all! One thing I found rather easy to do was the epoxy glue up. The only thing that I messed up on was when I drilled some holes as channels for the epoxy in the micarta which showed up in the butt of the slingshot because I got them too close to where the exterior of the slingshot ended up... lack of planning and know how. :D The thin cracks and bug holes I was thinking of filling but decided otherwise... I'm still 50/50 on it.

      Thanks! I just think I lucked out on the color combo. I've had that micarta sitting around for a few years waiting for me to try something with it.
