I'm using a shoe string that's sort of a skinny paracord, and it's been melted or tied back together a few times. Usually if I don't shoot the string it'll last a lot longer.
I don't have any of those metal spinners though.

I use a wire coat hanger. I have seen them hung from a peice of hose so that spins on the cord. Can't find any images of it though.

 

on the cheap, anything metal,,, but I have an 1/16" or so aircraft cable inside my box, costs about 4 bucks or so and it's 7 ft lon or so,

 

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will try a clothes hanger. . Hopefully it proves to be a little more resilient.

 

Maybe that is what it is. Lol I try and practice at least 30-60 mins a day. On weekends it probably equals out to about 2 hours a day between honey dos.

I highly recommend elastic cord. I used to use string (which didn't work well). And then I tried wire of different thicknesses, but my plastic spinner target would literally 'tear' off of the wire after shooting it for a while because the wire does not 'give'. With the elastic cord, the impact of each shot will have some 'give' to it so your spinner target will last longer, and as of yet, the cord has not suffered any damage.

I buy it in the arts & crafts section of Walmart. Its called "Round Cord Elastic" by Oritz. Works Great!

Fencing wire for metal spinners. High tensile stuff, cheap too.

 

I shoot in the cold Lots of insulation lol but shooting now more then I ever have this year I want to win the East coast slingshot tournament!so cold rain shine I’m practicing so much fun Addicted lol but anyway lol a long nail in a piece of wood or side of tree put spinner on Nail last forever works great for me!

 

You can get small gauge All-Thread at most any Lowe's or Home Depot. you can thread on the right sized bolts to hold your spinners in place, putting several sizes in a row without them running into each other.

 

I think somewhere on this forum (I guess; this new addiction has me looking at slingshots related things everywhere), Isaw a video of a Chinese shooter tying a target, he used tubes on each side and tied the target with a piece of string, looked something like:
Tube-string-target-string-tube, gave the target a lot of “give”
I don’t know if it makes much sense to you, but I think he tied it in a sort of a UNI knot, very used among fishermen...

Target was set up tight in the center due to the tubes, and moved freely when hit.

I personally use a bent piece of a clothes hanger shaped like a crooked “S” and hang the metal target on there... works great!

 

I put elastic band over Paracord on either side of spoon. Maybe knot this where the elastic ends are. The elastic takes the cuts but is resistant because of the Paracord core. Also this can keep the spoon better in place rather than sliding freely on the Paracord.
Also I use a real spoon. I use a bit of the handles to hang on the Paracord. Since it's thicker there should be no sharp edges. It's too thick.

 

I’ve been using the same paracord for years. From the paracord I use Pex tubing and string to hang the spinners.

 

I like what you did, using a secondary string instead of having the para cord through the spinners. Everyone has given me great ideas. Thanks everyone!!
