OTT 3 stooges

    I just finished these 3 up, I'll add one more coat of finish paste wax in a few days. These were found at the 45th parallel, half way between the Equator and North Pole, on the North Country Trail. There's a sign marking the 45th on the trail with a log to sign if you wish, on your hike.
    While hiking with my dog, we signed the log book and couldn't help but notice some trees down, literally 20 feet away and me always having my collapsible saw.... ;)
    2 are from an Oak tree and 1 from a Maple tree that the Oak had fallen on. I added some butts ( who doesn't like a fancy butt?) HPIM2206.JPG HPIM2205.JPG and finished sanded with Metro's 220 and BLO method and have 1 coat of finish paste wax, so far.

      Z, what I do is sand down to 220 grit sandpaper then I'll coat parts of the fork with Boiled Linseed oil and sand those areas with 220. It turns almost paste like, with the blo and the wood that's being removed.
      It drives the oil into the fork and also keeps the dust down. Sometimes I'll rub more oil onto the fork and leave in in a zip lock for a few hours after I'm done. Though I don't think that's necessary.
      I'll wipe the fork down then apply a finish paste wax after a couple days, I'll then wait a few more days and apply a second coat of wax and that's when she really shines.
