My attempt to make a ConusSome time ago I commented that I took a couple of small cuts of black guayacan (lignum vitae) and asked for suggestions on what to do with them. One of them was to make a Conus. That seemed an interesting project. Thanks to Alvaro for sharing the template. Use one of the cuts of guayacan, scraps of ciricote wood and yellow fiberglass spacer. Mahogany MuleHere's one I just finished up. It's made from Mahogany and has a copper lanyard tubing. Since it's a board cut I wanted a design with lower forks, to reduce torque and left it at 3/4 inch thick. I tested it in a vice and she's very strong. Natural Slingshot In Acacia Wood "Cross Bone"Hello Slingshot Community friends!!! Here's my latest natural frame, already completed and ready to be sent on a trade. Carved out from a very matured acacia tree fork (Acacia dealbata), it was finished with linseed oil and natural beeswax. The bands are my customary taper for 5 grams glass marbles, but were only placed for testing this weekend. After that, they will fly unbanded to its new owner. MoneyshotHey guys! So, a few months back I was pouring some resin and let some harden too quick on me before I got to embed what I originally wanted to put into it in it. Being one to not waste resin, I dropped a dollar bill on there and poured more resin over the top. Long story short, the Moneyshot was born. Olive OCU IIAnother small beauty. Still oiling, but I can show the pictures. Frame made from olive slab and laminated with kingwood, wenge and thuja burl pieces. I sanded it town to 2000 grit and oiled it with linseed oil. Hopefully you like it :). Cheers!

Couple nattyzIt's been too long since I whittled up a nice stick to shoot. The larger is made of golden rain tree and comes with a little blue stain thanks to a beetle that vectors the fungus that causes it. The smaller from Japanese Pagoda tree. Tru oil finish. No template, rhime or reason. Just went at it and had some good clean...
I was going through a bag of slings and saw this beauty. I imediatly banded it up the "proper" way with small diameter latex tubes, Supersure Superpouch, and tube protectors. This Flippen Pickle might be one of the nicest slingshots I own.
I've been a bit slack, well not really just haven't been making any catties.
What with winter ( I work outside) and doing some house maintenance, I just didn't get around to it.
Nice story though. I had a Portuguese painter in doing all the hard stuff and of course i just happened to show him a couple of catties. It turns out he's a budding sculptor and couldn't keep his hands off of them...

Messing around with some HDPE 
I needed some for the cool new R design Clever is working on. @Lacumo asked me if I ever stirred the HDPE. Yes I had tried it in the past with less than positive results. But after I explained to Lacumo that I relied on air bubbles to make the patterns I decided to give combing another try. It is just like raking or combing fused glass Thanks for the inspiration Lacumo
I am quite pleased with the results Now I eagerly await that new template
